The Ukrainian company GridWe is a reliable partner in the accurate tracking and efficient management of the consumption of gas and other energy sources. Smart solutions from GridWe fundamentally change the approach to metering: devices transmit data via wireless communication channels, allowing businesses and communities to exercise transparent cost control in real time.
Founded in 2023, today GridWe is the exclusive partner of Kyivstar and Vodafone in implementing NB-IoT technology in Ukraine. This guarantees stable coverage, high data transfer speeds, and signal penetration even in difficult conditions (basements, niches, industrial facilities). Among the key advantages of GridWe solutions are extremely low energy consumption (the battery lasts for years), the highest level of data security, and an affordable price.
The company’s products are aimed at a wide B2B and G2B segment: gas distribution companies, real estate developers, large and medium-sized businesses, condominiums (HOAs), municipalities, and energy service companies.
In an interview with the Energy Club media department, GridWe CEO Yuriy Stasiv spoke about launching production in Kyiv, ambitious plans for the digitalization of Ukrainian networks, and his vision of energy independence through comprehensive smart metering.
— GridWe positions itself as a driver of digital transformation. Tell us more about your production base and the company’s mission.
— GridWe represents a full cycle of metering device production: from modems to smart gas, water, and electricity meters. Our mission is clear – large-scale energy transformation of Ukraine. We believe that smart metering, which has been a standard in developed countries since 2018, is the only path to the true digitalization of our state.
We have invested in our own infrastructure: our 3,000 m² production facility in Kyiv is equipped with the most modern calibration lines from the German company Inotech Meter Calibration Systems GmbH. The products are certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 international standards, confirming quality on par with European analogues.
— What role does the team play in your success? After all, electronics development is a challenge.
— We have managed to unite experts with deep experience: designers, circuit engineers, programmers, and server solution architects. Importantly, every team member learns Lean methodology. This allows us to continuously improve processes, avoid unnecessary costs, and, as a result, offer the market a product with the best price-quality ratio.
— Mr. Yuriy, what recently implemented projects or solutions do you consider the most successful?
— The past year, 2025, became a year of confirming our production capacity. We manufactured and delivered over 200,000 residential gas meters. This is a massive case that proved GridWe is capable of meeting large market demands in the shortest possible time while adhering to strict quality standards.
In parallel, we completed a crucial R&D stage: we honed the technology for manufacturing our own modems and smart meters, and developed adaptations for equipment from different manufacturers, making our solutions universal for the market. It was on these innovative devices that we successfully tested the NB-IoT technology, which confirmed its effectiveness as a reliable foundation for the future automation of the entire data transmission network.
— What does the company plan to focus on in the next 1–3 years?
— Our goal is to turn data transmission from a special option into an industry standard. We have an ambitious vision: every meter installed in Ukraine must be equipped with a modem, and new procurements must be conducted exclusively in the format of smart devices. We are currently actively expanding our line for all areas of metering – electricity and water. We want to create an ecosystem where the consumer or energy manager sees a complete picture of resources in a single digital interface.
— GridWe has been a member of the Energy Club since 2024. Why did you choose this particular community?
— Energy transformation is too massive a task for one company. For us, the Energy Club is a space of like-minded people. We see it not only as a platform for finding new partners but also as an opportunity to consolidate business efforts on regulatory issues. Cooperation must be mutually beneficial: we bring technological expertise, and the club provides an opportunity to influence the development of Ukraine’s energy market.
— How do you see the role of business in increasing the resilience of the energy system in the current conditions?
— Resilience begins with manageability, and manageability begins with accurate data. GridWe’s role is to create a “nervous system” for the Ukrainian energy sector. When we know exactly where and how much resource is consumed in real time, we can promptly respond to challenges and minimize losses. The massive implementation of smart devices is not just a convenience; it is the foundation of the state’s energy security.
