Codex Energy: from energy project development to professional asset management

The Energy Club business community has been joined by Codex Energy, a new-format energy developer, part of Ribas Hotels Group. The company creates full-cycle energy assets: from project preparation and construction to launch, operational management and reporting for investors.

The first asset is the Bolgrad Energy Park in the Odessa region, which combines a solar power plant and an energy storage facility (ESF). Codex Energy is developing an approach to energy as a managed infrastructure asset and opens up the possibility of private capital participation in the development of the Ukrainian energy market.

 The development of modern energy complexes, prospects for attracting private investment, key areas of the company’s work, as well as expectations from membership in the Energy Club were discussed in an interview by the co-founder and technical director of Codex Energy Oleksandr Hanchev.

– Codex Energy is a Ukrainian company engaged in the development, management and support of modern energy projects. We work in the segment of renewable energy, energy storage facilities (ESP), as well as the management of energy assets and their commercial operation in the electricity market. For us, it is important not only to produce electricity, but also to effectively manage it using modern market tools, – Oleksandr emphasized.

– What projects or solutions implemented recently do you consider the most successful?

– The most significant for us is the “Energopark Bolgrad” project — the first energy asset of the company, which is currently in the stage of active implementation. It is a modern hybrid energy complex that combines a solar power plant and an energy storage system (ESS). In parallel, we are developing the direction of integrated energy asset management — from concept, financial modeling and construction to launch, operational management, generation forecasting, work in the electricity market and interaction with investors.

– What does the company plan to focus on in the next 1–3 years?

– Our priority is to scale the portfolio of energy projects, develop energy storage systems, create new hybrid energy complexes and develop professional energy asset management services. We also see great prospects in attracting private capital to implement infrastructure energy projects.

– Why did you decide to join the Energy Club?

– Today, Energy Club is one of the most authoritative professional platforms in the Ukrainian energy market. For us, it is an opportunity to be in a professional environment, exchange experience, participate in shaping market approaches and develop partnerships with key industry players.

– Have you had previous contacts or joint projects with Club members?

– Yes, we cooperated with IKNET within the framework of the Bolgrad Energy Park project. This is a positive experience that has shown that cooperation between market participants significantly accelerates the implementation of new projects.

– What practical benefits do you expect to receive from Energy Club membership?

– First of all, professional exchange of information, prompt discussion of regulatory changes, search for partners for the implementation of new projects and the opportunity to participate in developing a common business position on the development of the energy market are important to us.

– What problems or issues would you like to discuss within the Club?

– Today, the market is changing very quickly. We are interested in the development of energy storage systems, the integration of new technologies, improving the regulatory framework, access to financing, the development of the electricity market, and the creation of predictable rules for investors.

– How does the company plan to participate in the work of the Energy Club?

– We plan to be active participants in events, professional discussions, and working groups, share our own practical experience in implementing energy projects, and join joint initiatives aimed at developing the industry.

– And what formats of cooperation are the most useful?

– We see the greatest value in a combination of several formats: professional exchange of experience, search for reliable partners, preparation of joint proposals for regulatory changes, and high-quality analytics on market development.

– Mr. Oleksandr, what is your view on the role of business in increasing the sustainability of the energy sector?

– Today, business is one of the key drivers of energy modernization. Companies are investing in new technologies, implementing modern solutions, and creating new generating capacities. We are convinced that private capital should become one of the main factors in the post-war restoration of the Ukrainian energy sector.

– What joint initiatives of Energy Club could be most useful right now?

– The greatest benefit could be brought by joint developments in improving the regulatory framework, developing energy storage systems, simplifying the implementation of new energy projects, attracting investments and forming a consolidated position of the industry in dialogue with government authorities.

We are convinced that the future of Ukrainian energy is not individual solar or wind stations, but integrated energy systems that combine generation, storage, digital management and efficient operation in the electricity market. It is such solutions that will ensure the country’s energy sustainability and will be the most attractive for investors.
