Energy Club will hold a forum "Energy of Freedom: Sustainability and New Opportunities for the Energy Storage Systems Market in Ukraine 2026"

01.07.2026

On September 17, 2026, Energy Club will hold a forum in Kyiv “Energy of Freedom: Sustainability and New Opportunities for the Energy Storage Systems Market in Ukraine 2026”.

The forum will be a continuation of the professional discussion initiated by Energy Club in 2025, when energy storage systems were considered one of the key tools for energy security, sustainability and decentralization of Ukraine’s energy system.

Over the past year, the BESS market in Ukraine has noticeably intensified. From a general discussion of the potential of storage systems, market participants are gradually moving to the practical implementation of projects, finding financing, forming business models, integrating systems with renewable energy sources, industrial facilities, distributed generation and critical infrastructure.

That is why Energy Club is initiating a new forum to gather key market participants – businesses, investors, banks, developers, technology manufacturers and suppliers, engineering companies, lawyers, consultants, regulators, system operators and state representatives – to summarize the interim results of the sector’s development and discuss the next stage of the formation of the energy storage systems market in Ukraine.

The focus of the forum is on practical issues: which projects are already being implemented, which business models work, how the BESS economy has changed, what financial instruments are available, how to make a project bankable, what technical and regulatory barriers remain, how to integrate storage systems into the energy system and what role they will play a role in increasing the flexibility, stability and energy independence of Ukraine.

Energy storage systems are becoming not an additional element, but one of the basic technologies of the new energy architecture of Ukraine. In conditions of damage to the energy infrastructure, shortage of maneuvering capacities, development of distributed generation and increasing role of RES, storage systems can provide balancing, backup, autonomy, price arbitrage, flexibility of consumption and stability of critical facilities.

For business, BESS is not only an energy security technology, but also a potential investment tool. For industry, it is an opportunity to increase production continuity and reduce dependence on network instability. For communities and critical infrastructure, it is a path to greater autonomy. For the electricity market – an additional resource of flexibility and balancing.

At the same time, the development of the sector requires answers to a number of practical questions: how to structure projects, how to assess payback, what revenues can be generated in the market, how to manage risks, what regulatory changes are needed, how to ensure high-quality technical integration and how to attract financing.

Key topics of the forum

  • Results of the development of the BESS market in Ukraine over the past year;
  • practical cases of implementation of energy storage system projects;
  • BESS as a separate investment project, as part of a solar power plant or as an element of the energy infrastructure of an enterprise;
  • financing, banking requirements and project preparation;
  • regulatory conditions, market models and opportunities for storage systems to participate in the electricity market;
  • BESS integration with renewables, distributed generation, industrial consumers and critical infrastructure;
  • technological solutions, engineering, safety and operation of storage systems;
  • the role of storage systems in increasing the resilience of the Ukrainian power system;
  • Prospects for the development of shunting energy hubs, microgrids and new decentralized energy.

The forum will be useful for energy companies, investors, banks, industrial enterprises, RES and BESS developers, EPC companies, technology solution providers, legal and financial consultants, community representatives, critical infrastructure, government agencies, regulatorsand all market participants working on the development of a new energy architecture of Ukraine.

Energy Club aims to unite market participants around a practical agenda: from ideas and technology to financing, implementation, integration into the energy system and the creation of sustainable business models.

The forum will be a place where participants can not only discuss challenges, but also present real solutions, find partners, assess investment opportunities and form a common understanding of how BESS can strengthen Ukraine’s energy sustainability, independence and competitiveness.
