In the context of the energy crisis that has gripped Ukraine, projects aimed at providing the country with “clean” and renewable energy are particularly important. One of such important steps is the construction of the Sokal wind power plant (WPP) in the Lviv region.
JSC “Oschadbank” and the group of companies “Eco-Optima”, a leader in the development of renewable energy sources in Western Ukraine, have concluded a number of agreements on financing the construction of the Sokal wind power plant. Both companies are members of the Energy Club.
The project will not only provide the region with additional jobs and promote infrastructure development, but will also be an important contribution to strengthening the country’s energy independence.
According to the owner of the Eco-Optima group of companies, Zinovy Kozytsky, the signing of the loan agreement with Oschadbank was a record in terms of implementation terms for project financing. He also expressed hope for successful and fruitful cooperation in the future.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank, Yuriy Katsion, noted that this is the bank’s first large-scale project with the Eco-Optima group of companies and thanked the partners for their trust.
Director, Head of the Trade Facilitation Program (TFP) at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Shauna Tatchell, emphasized the importance of investments in “green” and clean energy solutions, especially in the context of the ongoing energy crisis in Ukraine.
The Sokalska WPP, with a capacity of 39.9 MW, is planned to generate about 122 million kWh of electricity per year. This will not only meet the needs of the region, but will also be an important step towards a sustainable energy future for Ukraine.
The construction of the Sokalska WPP is another confirmation that Ukraine is moving towards the development of renewable energy, strengthening its energy security and reducing dependence on traditional fuels.
