There are events that leave you with a pleasant sense of fatigue, and then there are those that, on the contrary, give you a powerful charge of energy and optimism. Our forum, “Recovery and Investments in Ukraine’s Energy Sector,” which recently took place in Rome, is definitively in the second category.
And the main feeling that remained after it is pride.
Pride in our people. Pride that in our conversations with European partners, we were no longer talking about how to survive. We were talking about how to build one of the most modern energy systems in Europe. And these are not just slogans.
When you hear firsthand how Ukrainian companies continue to drill new wells under weekly attacks, or how another company buys its own 600-ton crane because it’s the only way to build a wind farm—it’s far more impressive than any presentation slide. This is our reality. This is our strength.
This is precisely what we wanted to talk about in Rome—not about problems, but about the opportunities that are born despite everything.
Of course, such a frank and lively conversation would not have been possible without everyone who was with us. And here, I want to express my gratitude. To our partners—SPP DEVELOPMENT UKRAINE, Eco-Optima, and the Ukrainian Energy Exchange—for believing in this idea. To our speakers—for the courage to call things by their proper names and for their deep understanding of the situation. And, of course, thank you to all the participants. It was your sharp questions and sincere interest that transformed this event from a formal occasion into a genuine, effective dialogue.
We at the Energy Club see our task simply: to create even more such platforms. Not for formal reports, but for real conversations and, as a result, real deals. So that the “Build Back Better” idea transforms from a nice slogan into concrete projects involving technology and long-term financing.
The work doesn’t stop. This was a very important step, but there is still a lot of work ahead. But after the conversations in Rome, I am once again convinced—we can do it all.
Thank you to everyone who was involved. Glory to Ukraine!
