Inna Shcherbyna: "Energy Club forms a common vision for the development of Ukrainian energy markets"

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Energy Club, a series of interviews with member companies of the business community is ongoing, who share their experience of cooperation with the Club and their vision of its role in the development of the energy market of Ukraine.

This time, the hero of the project is the Ukrainian Energy Exchange (UEX), the leader of exchange trading in energy resources in Ukraine.

Inna Shcherbyna, Deputy Chairman of the UEB Exchange Committee, spoke about seven years as a member of the Energy Club, the value of professional interaction, the importance of open dialogue for the industry, and the wishes of the Club on the occasion of the anniversary: ​​

– The Ukrainian Energy Exchange has been a member of the Energy Club for 7 years. The decision to join was quite understandable, because the Club unites key participants in the energy market who are open to professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and joint search for solutions for the development of the industry. For us, this is an opportunity to be part of the expert environment, better understand market trends, and join the discussion of issues that determine the development of the Ukrainian energy sector.

– What practical value does participation in the Energy Club bring to your company?
– The greatest value of participation in the Energy Club for us is the constant professional dialogue with participants in the energy sector. This is a platform where you can openly discuss current challenges, exchange practical experience and hear different views on the development of the industry.

At the same time, for the UEB it is an opportunity to share its own expertise. Representatives of the Exchange regularly participate in forums, industry discussions, interviews and thematic events of the Energy Club dedicated to the development of natural gas and electricity markets, Ukraine’s integration into the European energy space, the development of exchange trading and energy security issues. Such events allow not only to present the vision of the Exchange, but also to hear feedback from business, state institutions and the expert community.

– What formats of the Energy Club are most useful for you: forums, closed meetings, online discussions, working groups, interviews, analytics? Why them?

– The greatest practical value for us is forums, professional discussions and interviews. It is live communication that provides an opportunity to discuss the development of energy markets in detail. In particular, participation in the project “Big Interview” provided an opportunity to talk in more detail about the development of organized energy markets, the transformation of the Exchange, and the peculiarities of work in wartime conditions. Such speeches help to explain complex market processes in a simple and understandable way and convey an expert position to a professional audience.

– In your opinion, how has the role of Energy Club changed for the energy market of Ukraine over the past 10 years?

– Over the past ten years, Energy Club has become one of the key platforms for professional communication in the energy industry. Representatives of business, state institutions, specialized associations, experts and international partners meet here to discuss issues on which the development of the Ukrainian energy sector depends.

This role became especially noticeable in the conditions of a full-scale war. It is here that professional discussions regularly take place on the functioning of the electricity and natural gas markets, Ukraine’s integration into European markets, the development of exchange trading, energy security and the restoration of competition.

– Ms. Inno, what are your wishes for Energy Club for the next 10 years?

– We wish Energy Club to continue to unite the professional community around important topics for the industry, develop opportunities for open dialogue, and remain an authoritative, objective platform for constructive dialogue.

May new ideas, professional initiatives, and solutions continue to be born here that will contribute to the development of competitive energy markets, the modernization of the Ukrainian energy sector, and its integration into the European space.

And, of course, we wish to celebrate the next anniversaries in a free, peaceful, and strong Ukraine!

– Is there an event, discussion, or initiative of Energy Club that was especially memorable to your team?

– There have been many such events over the years, so it is not easy to single out one.

Among the most memorable were discussions on the development of a competitive natural gas market, the Gas Storage Forum and Ukrainian Gas Open forums, as well as events dedicated to the integration of the Ukrainian electricity market into the European energy space.

We would like to separately mention the charity auction held jointly with the Energy Club and relevant associations in 2022.and in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

– Energy Club for the Ukrainian Energy Exchange is a professional community where a common vision of the development of Ukrainian energy markets is formed.

The experience of the Ukrainian Energy Exchange once again confirms: Energy Club is not only a platform for professional communication, but also a space where new ideas are born, partnerships are strengthened and a common vision of the future of the Ukrainian energy industry is formed. It is thanks to such interaction that business, the state and the expert community jointly find solutions that help the industry develop even in the most difficult times.
