History

2005
DTEK was established. Its foundations were: Pavlogradugol, Komsomolets Donbas Mine, Vostokenergo, Service-Invest.

2006
DTEK included PES-Energovugol, Pavlogradska and Kurakhivska Central Coalfields.

2007
DTEK joined the UN Global Compact.

Dobropolska, Oktyabrska and Mospinskoe Central Coalfields joined DTEK.

Komsomolets Donbas Mine produced 3.4 million tons of coal in a year for the first time in its history and ranked second in Ukraine in terms of coal production and labor productivity.

Start of a large-scale program to modernize Vostokenergo’s generating capacities.

The rating agencies Moody’s and Fitch awarded the company international credit ratings for the first time.

2008
The debut issue of domestic loan bonds in the amount of UAH 500 million was carried out.

The company “Wind Power” was created to implement wind energy projects.

A comprehensive program was launched to update mining equipment using high-performance equipment and introduce anchor and frame-anchor fastening technologies at the company’s mines.

2009
DTEK obtained the right to export electricity to Hungary, Romania and Slovakia at the first auction in Ukraine for access to international networks.

A new service for remote access of industrial electricity consumers to their personal accounts was launched at “PEM-Energovugilya”.

2010
Debut issue of Eurobonds in the amount of $500 million to attract funds for modernization of production and expansion of the company’s business.

DTEK began exporting electricity to Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Belarus.

DTEK became a member of the European industry associations EURACOAL and EURELECTRIC.

2011
To implement the company’s strategic development plans, a record amount of financing from banks was attracted for DTEK — $1.4 billion.

DTEK became the largest private shareholder of PJSC Kyivenergo, owning 71.8% of the company’s shares.

The State Property Fund and DTEK concluded lease and concession agreements for the state-owned enterprises Dobropillyavugol, Rovenkyantratsit and Sverdlovantratsit.

DTEK Naftogaz was established to develop projects in the oil and gas industry.

DTEK is the first Ukrainian company in CSR Europe. This is the largest European business association whose members are actively engaged in the development of corporate social responsibility.

2012
The first five-year stage of DTEK’s long-term development strategy was completed. Over $2.5 billion was invested in production in 2008–2012.

Start-up of the first stage turbines of the Botievskaya WPP. DTEK’s first investment project in renewable energy.

First acquisition of coal assets outside Ukraine – DTEK acquired Obukhovskaya Mining Management OJSC, Don Anthracite OJSC and Sulinanthracite LLC (Russia).

2013
DTEK Pavlogradugol produced a record 18 million tons of coal.

The second issue of Eurobonds in the amount of 750 million USD was placed.

$1.3 billion was invested in the reconstruction of power units and the modernization of mine equipment.

According to Deloitte, DTEK entered the TOP-10 dynamically developing companies in Central and Eastern Europe.

DTEK began supplying gas from Europe, acquired a stake in Naftogazvydobuvannia, the largest private gas producing company in Ukraine.

2014
DTEK power engineers restored electricity supply to 1.4 million residents in 600 settlements that were cut off due to hostilities.

The Botievka wind farm reached its design capacity, became the largest in Ukraine and entered the top five largest wind farms in Central and Eastern Europe.

DTEK completed the process of reforming its business management system, which began in 2011. The DTEK management company and three operating companies were established: DTEK Energy, which provides asset management in coal mining, thermal power generation and electricity distribution; DTEK VDE – in alternative energy and DTEK Naftogaz – in natural gas production.

2015
Naftogazvydobuvannya put into operation the deepest gas well in Eastern Europe (6,750 m) and achieved the highest gas production rate in the history of the company and private gas production in Ukraine.

DTEK Energy reached an agreement on the restructuring of Eurobonds for 200 million USD, the maturity of which fell on April 2015.

The “Energy-Efficient Schools” project won the Grand Prix of the All-Ukrainian Competition “Best Social Projects of Ukraine”.

140 projects were implemented in 15 settlements within the framework of the “City with Your Own Hands” mini-grant competition.

2016
“Naftogazvydobuvannya” produced a record 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

An agreement was reached with Eurobond holders and creditor banks on the long-term restructuring of the company’s loan portfolio.

Miners of the Heroes of Space mine set a historical record: 3 million tons of coal were mined.

For the first time in the world, miners of Pavlohradugol overcame a unique geological disturbance with a 300 m drop in the stratum — Bogdanivskyi dump.

2017
DTEK took the enterprises located in the ATO zone out of administration.

An agreement was concluded with financial institutions on the long-term restructuring of DTEK Energy loans.

DTEK Academy concluded a memorandum with the business schools INSEAD (France) and IE Business School (Spain) on the development and implementation of joint educational programs in Ukraine.

DTEK implemented the first project in solar energy, which made it possible to form a long-term vision of development in this segment.

According to the results of employer attractiveness studies conducted by the international auditing company EY, DTEK entered the TOP-10 best in Ukraine.

DTEK signed a cooperation agreement with the Climate Bonds Initiative.

DTEK Prydniprovska TPP converted power units No. 7-8 from anthracite coal grades to gas.

The general meeting of shareholders of Kyivenergo PJSC adopted a decision to reorganize the business through the creation of two companies.

DTEK Energy acquired Korum Druzhkivskyi Machine-Building Plant LLC, ITC Mining Machines LLC, and 61.2% of the shares of Svitlo Shakhtarya PJSC.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine approved 12 vocational education standards developed by DTEK.

2018
DTEK created the DTEK Networks operating holding.

DTEK Renewable Energy signed a contract with General Electric for the construction of two phases of the Primorskaya wind power plant (200 MW), began construction of the Nikopolskaya SPP (200 MW) in partnership with the Chinese company SMES, and construction of the Orlovskaya WPP in partnership with the Danish company Vestas.

An innovation management function was created at DTEK.

DTEK has begun the transformation of its corporate university into an innovative educational business platform, Academy DTEK.

2019
For the first time in the history of Ukrainian business, DTEK has placed specialized securities for the development of renewable energy. EUR 325 million was raised only for existing and future DTEK RES projects.

As part of the reform of the Ukrainian electricity market, DTEK separated the functions of electricity distribution and supply. An operating holding company, D.Solutuons, was created, which develops the business of supplying electricity, gas and energy-efficient solutions.

D.Solutions was one of the first in the Ukrainian electricity market to create a retail brand — YASNO, to develop the retail business of selling energy products.

DTEK created the company D.Trading, which is responsible for the development of wholesale trade in energy resources in Ukraine and on external energy markets, and work with large customers.

DTEK Renewable Energy has begun construction of Ukraine’s largest Pokrovskaya SPP.

DTEK acquired controlling stakes in Odesaoblenergo and Kyivoblenergo.

DTEK Naftogaz won state auctions for oil and gas field development. The company acquired licenses for the development of the Svitankovo-Logivska and Zinkivska areas.

DTEK Academy was recognized as the best business school in the world in the Corporate Responsibility category by the Global CCU Awards.

The company completed the construction of the Orlovskaya and Primorskaya wind farms, Nikopolskaya and Pokrovskaya SPPs, and DTEK’s portfolio of renewable energy projects reached 1 GW.

DTEK Grids built one of the most modern energy facilities in Ukraine — the Naddnipryanska substation.

DTEK installed 12 fast-charging stations for electric vehicles.

2020
DTEK joined the new global Platform of the World Economic Forum to combat the COVID-19 coronavirus. To protect the health of employees, work was transferred to a special regime.

DTEK RES received the Green Bond Pioneer Award from the Climate Bond Initiative for the debut issue of green bonds.

DTEK became the first company in Ukraine to join the Hydrogen Europe Association, which unites leaders in the field of hydrogen technology in Europe.

DTEK was the first in Ukraine to begin construction of an industrial energy storage system.
