For over 20 years, the “Gas Traders of Ukraine” Association has been promoting the development of a transparent and equal-access market for works in the supply and transportation of natural gas in Ukraine. Members of the association advocate for the liberalization of Ukraine’s gas market, its reform based on the principles of free and fair competition.
AGTU is an active participant in the Energy Club business community. Analysis and research of the energy market, maximum communication and analytical support for the decision-making process regarding the development of the energy sector, promotion of energy efficiency, partnerships with leading state institutions, international and Ukrainian organizations in the energy sector, communication between energy market stakeholders – the benefits of membership in the Club are obvious.
“I am convinced that public discussion among all market participants, objective analysis of gas market problems, make it possible to form transparent working conditions based on the principles of open and fair competition,” says Andrii Myzovets, President of AGTU.
The “Gas Traders of Ukraine” Association and Energy Club signed a memorandum of cooperation and collaboration in 2019.
“Since quite active processes were taking place in the energy markets of Ukraine: liberalization, updating legislation in accordance with European energy packages, changes to the Codes were being approved – a public platform where professional specialists gathered to analyze the changes was very appropriate and extremely relevant,” recalls Andrii Myzovets. “We, as the Association, all our participants are incredibly grateful to Energy Club for providing the opportunity to convey information, correct it during joint discussions of various issues, create joint expertise and a vision for the development of the gas industry, which was actively transforming. I emphasize that the Energy Club platform has become an archive of important information and its preservation for the formation of institutional memory of the reforms carried out.”
Hundreds of issues that were raised daily for open discussion, both online and offline, were of great value to market participants.
“Our Association promptly got involved in resolving those issues that were for some reason being silenced by some market participants. There were cases when the NEURC, as the regulatory body of the energy sector, for certain reasons favored individual market participants. We actively articulated these cases, defending publicity, impartiality, and fairness in the consideration of issues,” notes the President of AGTU regarding the relevance and effectiveness of the events organized by the Club.
“Today, Energy Club continues to actively hold public meetings with company executives, market experts, representatives of ministries and departments of the industry, where solutions needed by the market are developed. In the context of the full-scale war that Russia has launched against Ukraine, it is important to unite efforts and developments for the prompt adoption of decisions concerning the gas industry. Currently, we are actively discussing and providing our expertise on ensuring consumers with imported gas for the heating season of 2025-2026, conducting negotiations, attracting investors and participants from European gas market companies, and advising on financial issues of these relations,” said Andrii Myzovets about the current activities of AGTU in the Club. “I wish the entire professional team of Energy Club to keep the bar of knowledge high! Crystallize your advantages, increase competition, multiply the intellectuality of your chosen mission!”
