Energy Club conducted a survey among 302 representatives of the energy sector of Ukraine to find out their opinion on the future of the Ukrainian energy sector. The survey results provide valuable information on the attitude of business to key issues of the industry’s development, in particular, the construction of new generating capacities, the transition to environmentally friendly energy sources and the completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
Methodology
The survey was conducted online from February 13 to February 16. 302 respondents representing various sectors of the energy industry, including generation, distribution, trading and engineering, took part in the survey. Main results
Analysis of comments
Respondents’ comments to the question about reservations/fears regarding the completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP indicate that there are different views on this project. Some respondents express doubts about its economic feasibility and efficiency in wartime. Others emphasize the need to develop nuclear generation, but suggest focusing on smaller-scale distributed generation projects. There are also concerns about corruption, bureaucratic red tape, and the lack of proper protection against missile attacks.
Conclusions
The survey results indicate that Ukrainian business in the energy sector supports the need to develop generating capacities in Ukraine, including nuclear power. The completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP is seen as an important step towards strengthening the country’s energy independence and sustainability. However, there are also certain concerns about this project that require attention and resolution.
