When the lights come on in our homes after another blackout, we rarely think about the complex journey that heavy equipment—transformers, turbines, or 60-meter wind blades—must travel before becoming part of the power grid. Project logistics is the “invisible front” of energy restoration, where a calculation error of just a few centimeters can halt a strategic construction project.
In the new episode of “The Big Interview,” host Andriy Kulykov is joined by Ivan Pozdniakov, Head of Kaiser Projects Ukraine (a subsidiary of the Dutch company Kaiser Projects B.V.). The company specializes in the transportation of oversized and heavy cargo and joined the Energy Club in 2025.
During the conversation, we delved into the world of “large scales”: we discussed why project logistics is not just transportation, but deep engineering and planning that takes months. Ivan Pozdniakov shared why the company decided to open a representative office in Ukraine during the war, how the role of Danube and Black Sea ports has changed, and why “containerized” logistics is no longer an axiom of cost-efficiency.
Special attention was paid to the challenges of reconstruction: how the war has shifted routes from Europe, India, and China, what “surprises” transporters face in Ukrainian ports due to a lack of coordination, and how the decentralization of the energy system creates new opportunities for the logistics business.
“The Big Interview” is a special media project of the Energy Club business community, where we speak with CEOs and top managers of Energy Club member companies. A frank, professional conversation about day-to-day business operations and future plans.
