The “Ukrhydroenergo” team is a regular participant in the Energy Cup charity football tournaments. It is formed from employees of the company’s management and the “Cascade of Kyiv HPPs and PSPs” branch. The team trains actively and primarily consists of workers, although there are also representatives of the engineering and technical staff, but that is not the main thing. The main thing is the desire to play football.
“We participate in all sports events organized by energy enterprises and companies in Ukraine. And the Energy Cup charity football tournaments are a truly sacred cause, as their primary goal is to raise aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So, like other teams, we join and support this initiative,” said Oleksandr Tsymbaliuk, Head of the Council of Trade Union Committees of PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”.
Oleksandr Fedorovych also noted that from the first days of the full-scale invasion of our territory by the Russian Federation, the efforts and resources of the trade union of PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo” were primarily directed towards protecting the territorial integrity of the state, supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and territorial defense.
“We understand that this is the most important thing right now. At the same time, we continue to support our employees in resolving social protection issues. Despite the difficult situation in the country, we strengthen the confidence of our team in the future,” he said.
Active recreation and sports are one of the methods of team building, stress relief, and organizing leisure activities. And this is also within the purview of the trade union. What exactly motivates Ukrhydroenergo employees to participate in the Energy Cup tournament?
“If some people want to go to other competitions, and some don’t want to, or can’t, then here it’s the opposite – everyone participates with pleasure. They understand the responsibility, given the mission of the Energy Cup,” Oleksandr Fedorovych replies. “In addition, the tournament is a good opportunity to meet fellow energy workers from other enterprises and companies, have an active rest, and socialize. These are very friendly competitions that allow you to feel cohesion and unity. I gladly come to all the tournaments with our team. It’s a day off, teams from all over Ukraine gather.”
Expectations from Energy Cup Spring 2025 – the unity of energy workers for a common goal. Winning the competition is not the main thing; the main thing is participation.
“We look forward to meeting colleagues, socializing, and cheering for our teams,” shared the Head of the Council of Trade Union Committees of PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”. As I already said, we are regular participants in all industry sports competitions, and in some previous years, the Ukrhydroenergo team reached the finals of mini-football competitions. In volleyball, we are among the best. But in the Energy Cup tournaments, there are stronger players, for example, the teams of nuclear power workers. But for us, the main thing is participation! And we are grateful to the Energy Club for organizing competitions in such difficult times that bring together participants from all over Ukraine, provide opportunities for communication and sports development, and most importantly, help our defenders. Life goes on!
PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo” is the largest hydropower generating company in Ukraine, 100% of the shares of which belong to the state. The company is included in the list of 15 state-owned enterprises in the economy whose total assets amount to 70% of the total in the state sector. The company includes 9 large HPPs and PSPs on the Dnipro and Dniester rivers. Previously there were 10, but the Kakhovka HPP was captured on February 24, 2022, and destroyed on June 6, 2023, as a result of an internal detonation by Russian troops.
Ukrhidroenergo’s strategic goal is to provide Ukraine’s energy system with electricity and reserve capacity through the hydro resources of the Dnipro and Dniester rivers.
Since 2023, the company has been actively pursuing the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure damaged after numerous missile attacks, and is also actively working to protect its facilities.
