Effective Communication in Energy — Theory and Practice from Kateryna Ivanus in the New Energy Club Course

14.05.2025

In today’s business environment, where a company’s activity is aimed at numerous stakeholder groups, effective communication becomes a key tool for achieving success.

In the Energy Club training course “Communications and Interaction in Energy: Strategies for PR, Marketing, GR, and Lobbying in Ukraine,” Kateryna Ivanus — founder of the Kateryna Ivanus PR&media consulting agency — will explain how to build strong relationships with government bodies, journalists, investors, and public organizations, and how to develop a communication strategy that demonstrates the effectiveness of your company’s activities, the ability to respond quickly to crises, and turn communication into an instrument of influence.

Kateryna Ivanus has been managing projects related to reputation management and building effective communications for state-owned enterprises, businesses, and investors in Ukraine and Europe for over 15 years.

“We help businesses and state-owned enterprises build relationships with the media, interact with the government, investors, and form international connections. Our communication strategies influence stakeholder opinion, increase recognition and loyalty, and also have clearly measurable KPIs,” says Kateryna.

In June, at the Energy Club training course “Communications and Interaction in Energy: Strategies for PR, Marketing, GR, and Lobbying in Ukraine,” Kateryna Ivanus will share tools and practical case studies on public opinion and energy, reputation management and interaction with the media, as well as an algorithm for implementing trends and their impact on communications.

During the training, you will learn:

  • How to synchronize a communication strategy with a company’s business goals
  • How to increase your company’s presence in the information space
  • How to confidently manage reputation and influence external processes
  • How to act in a crisis and quickly neutralize its negative consequences

“In the course, I will explain why communication is a key area for business today, and also emphasize the importance of reputation management and increasing media presence. A communication strategy aligned with business goals significantly accelerates their achievement: it contributes to building trust among partners, allows influencing external processes and quickly responding to crisis situations, if necessary,” emphasizes the founder of the Kateryna Ivanus PR&media consulting agency.

Kateryna Ivanus has experience working in the public sector. In 2021-2023, she worked as an advisor on communication policy to the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration. During these years, the country faced two major challenges – the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2022 — the full-scale invasion. The Zaporizhzhia region was one of the first to take the brunt of the aggressor’s attack and was partially occupied. Kateryna was involved in communication support for the evacuation of the population and working with journalistic groups from media outlets around the world. This became an important experience in public crisis communications.

“The energy sector during the war faced numerous challenges: shelling, destruction, blackouts. In working with energy companies, Kateryna Ivanus’s agency is currently most focused on crisis and international communications, as attracting international support is also a priority for energy companies,” the expert emphasized.

Regarding future trends, the key areas are artificial intelligence, decarbonization, hydrogen, and digitalization. If we talk about communicating trends, it is important to note that the information space is currently extremely oversaturated. According to some estimates, a modern person receives as much information in a week as a medieval citizen received in an entire year. This leads to an increase in anxiety from any innovations.

Therefore, preparing the media environment includes several important stages: explaining to people why this is needed, what problems such innovations solve, and providing examples from international practice. The participation of experts who could explain the implementation mechanisms plays an important role in this process. Communication of complex technological trends usually requires reducing anxiety precisely through understanding and awareness.

Kateryna plans to make the lecture format similar to a live business meeting, informationally rich and specific, so that listeners immediately have all the tools for practical application of the acquired knowledge.

The information will be useful for local self-government bodies, businesses, and business leaders, because communication is not something satellite; first of all, it is a strategy that meets the company’s objectives. Every specialist should clearly understand what goals the organization has, how communication can accelerate their achievement, and what role they play in this process.

Course participants will receive additional materials and practical case studies.
