DTEK Group is a diversified energy holding company consisting of 6 businesses and the corporate university Academy DTEK, the largest private investor in the energy sector of Ukraine, is a member of Energy Club. Yaryna Skorokhod – GR & Communications DTEK, co-chair of the Energy Committee of the European Business Association, who has been working in the energy sector for over 5 years, takes part in many of the club’s events. Today, we will talk about the role of Energy Club in supporting and developing the energy sector.
– Over the years of membership in the Energy Club, we have witnessed all the periods of formation and development of the community, which we strongly support, — said Yaryna. – The club has become an effective platform for discussing industry problems. For many companies, it is also a mechanism through which they can find partners. Energy Club is a business platform where not only energy companies are directly concentrated, who are interested in discussing current statuses or problems, but also contractors related to the industry, industrial enterprises, for whom the energy agenda is important.
– How relevant and effective are the events organized by the Energy Club?
– The context of the events is very large, because the club unites many companies with different goals. I am sure that everyone finds aspects that are important to them in the community. For some, this is finding clients, for some, contractors, for some it is important to hear the opinion of colleagues, to write an appeal to the authorities. The wide specialization of the club helps its members find ways to solve their questions and requests.
– Can you give examples of when the club helped solve problems or resolve important issues?
– We can confidently say that the events held by the Energy Club definitely raise issues on the industry agenda to a new level, very often even before the topics become media and begin to be discussed in the information space. That is, it is the Energy Club that initiates professional industry discussions, and this helps to identify the position of stakeholders, makes it possible to draw up a plan of measures to overcome challenges and resolve conflicts. This mediator position is very useful in the energy industry.
– What are the current challenges that currently require discussion on the Energy Club platform?
– We live in wartime realities, and this, of course, affects the topics of discussion. Not all of them can be brought to the attention of the general public, but the consequences of military aggression are felt everywhere in the industry and affect all energy sectors and all aspects of the energy system. Therefore, developing an action plan for the effective restoration of the activities of enterprises and companies in the energy sector, implementing changes that would accelerate these measures, are relevant topics for discussion.
We have experienced constant attacks on energy infrastructure. This year, the context has changed: now the enemy is targeting the oil and gas infrastructure, and the industry has completely different challenges. Many issues related to the gas sector have already been raised to the surface, they are being actively discussed, and this is just the beginning. The heating season has just ended, and preparation for the next one actually requires great efforts from the authorities, state-owned enterprises, and private companies.
Energy Club suggested that DTEK join the club’s training programs.
– I think we will definitely participate in the next courses, because we understand that the potential is very large, reskilling is underway, and professional changes are ongoing in the industry. Therefore, improving work processes and raising the qualification level of employees of energy enterprises are very important. These initiatives are necessary in a broad context, — noted Yaryna Skorokhod.
