The future of thermal power: between decentralization and reality

The course towards decentralization and development of distributed generation has been declared at the highest level. At the same time, the Parliament and the Government are preparing legislative changes that will regulate the sphere of municipal heat and power engineering and relations in the heat market.
The professional community needs an honest conversation about how these initiatives correlate with the technical condition of networks, the economics of DH enterprises and the solvency of consumers. Energy Club initiates a professional discussion of government legislative initiatives and real prospects for the implementation of distributed generation.

• Distributed generation: myths vs reality
• The economics of “small cogeneration”: the real cost of 1 MW of installed capacity and payback periods.
• Can mini-CHP plants completely replace large heat sources in large cities?
• Who will service thousands of distributed installations?
• Readiness of gas distribution networks: will the system withstand thousands of new cogeneration connection points?
• Power delivery to the network: technical conditions for connecting to the DSO and the possibility of operating in “island” mode.
• Environmental standards and placement of facilities in dense urban areas.
