"AK SOLAR ENERGY" - from launching solar generation to effective operation in the market

25.08.2026

Energy Club continues to unite representatives of the energy market and expand the professional community. The new member of the Club is AK SOLAR ENERGY LLC, a young Ukrainian company in the field of renewable energy, which develops solar generation and works on the effective sale of generated electricity on the market.

The company was established in 2024, and in 2026 it switched to the actual generation and sale of electricity. Today, AK SOLAR ENERGY is focused on increasing the efficiency of existing energy facilities, developing new projects and finding modern solutions for the generation, storage and sale of electricity.

In an interview with Energy Club, Director of LLC “AK SOLAR ENERGY” Natalia Olekhova spoke about the first practical experience of the new producer in the Ukrainian electricity market, key challenges for solar generation and approaches to increasing its economic efficiency. She paid special attention to the prospects of energy storage systems, the development of corporate PPAs and long-term models of cooperation between producers and consumers.

Nataliia Olekhova shared her vision of which professional discussions and partnership projects can be most useful for Energy Club participants – from exchanging practical cases on forecasting and imbalances to working together on new models of interaction in the energy market.

– Ms. Natalia, tell us about the company you lead – what projects are you working on today?

– AK Solar Energy LLC operates in the field of renewable energy and generates electricity from solar energy. We recently completed an important stage – we put our facility into operation and started actual generation.

Today, we look at the energy market not only as an investor and owner of an energy asset, but also as a producer who works daily with hourly prices, forecasting, imbalances and choosing an electricity sales model. Our task is to build an economically efficient and stable model of solar generation in the conditions of the Ukrainian market.

– What results of AK Solar Energy LLC are you proud of?

– The most important result is the successful launch of generation and entry into the electricity market. For an energy project, the commissioning of a facility is an important milestone, but it is after the launch that daily operational and commercial work begins.

The first month gave us actual data on the production profile, forecast accuracy, imbalances and sales price. The next stage is to systematically increase the operational and commercial efficiency of an already operating facility.

The first month of operation particularly clearly showed the importance of the hourly price profile. For a solar producer, not only the average price of electricity on the market is important, but the price during the hours of actual generation.

Solar power plants produce the most electricity during the day. During hours of high supply, the price may decrease, so the actual weighted average selling price of a particular solar power plant may differ from the general market average. Added to this are the forecast accuracy, the cost of imbalances and the conditions of operation in the balancing group.

For us, this confirmed: financial results are determined not only by the volume of production, but also by the quality of forecasting and commercial strategy.

– What are the company’s priorities for the near future?

– Our first priority is to optimize the current generation. We plan to strengthen market analytics, increase the accuracy of forecasting production and prices, compare the conditions of balancing groups and improve the electricity sales model.

The second direction is to search for longer-term and more predictable models of cooperation with traders, suppliers and corporate consumers, in particular bilateral agreements and corporate PPAs taking into account market requirements and responsibility for balance.

The third direction is to assess the feasibility of energy storage systems. For us, BESS is not just a technological addition, but a potential tool for managing the sales profile. At the same time, the investment decision must take into account price spreads, battery degradation, the number of cycles, connection point restrictions and the ability to work in different market segments.

– Why did AK Solar Energy LLC decide to join Energy Club?

– After actually entering the market, we quickly realized that a producer cannot work effectively, remaining only within the boundaries of its own facility. Producers, traders, suppliers, consumers, network operators and the regulator are parts of one system.

For us, Energy Club is an opportunity for direct professional dialogue with participants who work in the market every day. We are not interested in formal membership, but in the exchange of practical experience: pricing, forecasting, imbalances, balancing, energy storage and new models of cooperation between the producer and the consumer.

– What is theWhat practical benefits do you expect from the industry community?

– First of all, professional networking, access to high-quality analytics and exchange of practical cases. We have only just started generating, so the experience of companies that have already gone through various stages of work on the market is especially valuable for us.

At the same time, we are ready to share our own observations of a new producer that has entered the market in the current difficult conditions. We are also open to cooperation with traders, suppliers, balancing groups, corporate consumers, forecasting system suppliers and technology partners in the BESS field.

– What key issues for professional discussion are relevant to you?

– The first question is the economics of renewable generation in conditions of high intraday price volatility and low prices precisely during the hours of maximum solar production.

The second is imbalances and forecasting quality. Even high production does not guarantee a proper financial result if part of the income is lost due to inaccurate forecast or unfavorable balancing conditions.

Third – practical economics of BESS in Ukraine: sources of income, payback periods, degradation, regulatory requirements and the possibility of combining storage with solar generation.

Fourth – development of corporate PPAs and other long-term models between the producer and the consumer, which can increase the predictability of income and the cost of electricity for both parties.

– The formats of work of Energy Club are very diverse. Which of them are a priority for your company?

– First of all, practical ones – working groups and meetings, where you can discuss specific figures and cases. These can be discussions on RDN and IDR, the balancing market, imbalances, forecasting, BESS, corporate PPAs and regulatory changes.

A regular format of direct communication between RES producers and large consumers would be especially valuable. It is this kind of dialogue that can create new commercial models that are beneficial to both parties.

– The role of business in energy sustainability – how do you see it?

– Each new distributed generation facility expands the country’s energy base. But the next stage is not just an increase in installed capacity, but the development of managed, network-integrated and economically viable generation.

We see the future in a combination of renewable sources, storage systems, high-quality forecasting, digital management and market mechanisms. It is this combination that can increase the flexibility of the system and the efficiency of using generated electricity.

Private business is ready to invest, but this requires predictable rules, a clear economic model and the ability to plan for the long term.

– What joint initiatives do you hope to implement within the Club?

– A permanent direction of work dedicated to the actual economics of RES in new market conditions would be useful: generation profile, weighted average selling price, imbalances, balancing costs and models of work with consumers.

The second direction is joint analytics on BESS based on real Ukrainian cases, and not just theoretical calculations.

The third is a “producer-consumer” platform, where RES producers could find companies interested in long-term electricity purchases, and together with suppliers and traders, form practical contractual models.

– Your wishes to colleagues and partners in the Energy Club.

– We started generation in a difficult, but extremely important period for the Ukrainian energy sector. The first results confirmed: today it is not enough just to build a power plant. You need to quickly respond to the market, forecast, optimize and create new models of cooperation.

AK Solar Energy LLC is open to partnerships with producers, traders, suppliers, balancing groups, corporate consumers and technology companies. We are convinced that the future of Ukrainian energy lies in the interaction of generation, storage, consumption and trade as elements of a single effective system.

It is the Energy Club professional community that can help transform such a dialogue into specific projects and partnerships. AK Solar Energy LLC is open to partnerships with energy market participants.

Today, the energy market especially needs open professional dialogue and readiness for partnership. The experience of new participants who go through the path from launching generation to finding effective market models is an important part of this dialogue.

Energy Club continues to unite companies, expertise and practical experience, creating an environment for new contacts and joint solutions.
