How can Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) secure financing for energy storage systems and recover part of their investment? Yevhen Borodin, Head of the SME Center at UKRSIBBANK, addressed this during the Energy Club closed discussion.
The bank focuses on supporting private businesses. According to European classification, the target audience for these programs (SMEs) includes companies with an annual turnover of up to €50 million (approx. UAH 2.5 billion) or up to 250 employees.
EBRD Cashback Program The main advantage for borrowers is the joint program between UKRSIBBANK and the EBRD, which allows for a partial reimbursement of credit funds spent on energy-efficient equipment:
During the meeting, Yevhen Borodin cited a practical case: a company purchased an energy storage system for €4.2 million. A 3-year loan was issued, and under the program terms, the client received a non-refundable reimbursement of €315,000.
Base Lending Terms:
The speaker emphasized that the bank does not set rigid financing limits for a single client — projects can scale according to the enterprise’s needs. A critical condition is the procurement of certified equipment that meets EBRD standards (the list includes both international and Ukrainian manufacturers).
