The recent crisis and the artificial price collapse on the spot electricity market have exposed another, deeper, and more systemic problem—a critical lack of transparency and access to key market data.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, market participants—suppliers, traders, producers, and consumers—have been operating in conditions of complete informational uncertainty. There is a lack of data on generation volumes, the balance of production and consumption, and real price benchmarks. This makes adequate forecasting impossible.

Continuing to operate in an “information vacuum” is unsustainable. It not only kills competition and trust in the market but also jeopardizes its integration into the European energy space.

Energy Club is gathering market participants, experts, and government representatives for a frank conversation to discuss why a return to transparency is a matter of survival for the market and to formulate a joint roadmap for action.

Questions for discussion:

  • Diagnosing the problem: What specific data is critically lacking for market participants to forecast and operate stably today?
  • The consequences of non-transparency: How is the lack of data related to the recent price collapse on the day-ahead market? What financial and operational risks does it create for suppliers and traders?
  • European integration vs. Ukrainian realities: Why does the position of Ukrainian state authorities contradict the requirements of REMIT and the recommendations of the Energy Community? Is citing martial law a sufficient justification?
  • A roadmap to transparency: What specific steps must the NEURC, the Ministry of Energy, and the Market Operator take immediately to resume the publication of data in a format that complies with European standards?
