About the Company

Specializing in the implementation of projects in the Ukrainian energy sector, the company combines management experience, a deep understanding of the local market, and expertise gained over more than 35 years of successful activity in the energy sector in many countries around the world.

History

The history of the ERU Group began in 2014, namely during the transition from outdated rules to the new natural gas market in Ukraine. ERU was one of the first to implement a number of innovations and modern procedures that the industry urgently needed.

Starting with a contract for 10 thousand cubic meters of gas, in 5 years we became one of the largest private importers of natural gas to Ukraine from European countries (Hungary, Slovakia and Poland). We cooperate with leading international suppliers, and the company’s customer portfolio includes the largest enterprises of the metallurgical, construction, machine-building, and food industries. This is an indicator of the progressiveness, determination and effectiveness of ERU’s actions, including in the direction of achieving energy independence for Ukraine.

Together with our partners, in 2017 we were the first to organize the supply of LNG to the territory of Ukraine, and in 2019 we contracted the first cubic meters of American LNG, which arrived at the Polish LNG terminal in November 2019 for regasification and further transportation to Ukrainian gas storage facilities. The possibility of an additional pricing option (in addition to the price from Hungary, Slovakia and Germany via Poland) also proves the feasibility of these operations, which in turn is an additional factor in increasing competition in the Ukrainian market.

The ERU Group of Companies is the owner of a political risk insurance policy of the US government agency, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), and with the reformatting of the agency in early 2020, it updated its terms by signing an agreement with the newly formed U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). This twenty-year contract provides the group with protection when transporting, storing and selling gas in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of 2019, we have actively continued our activities in the market for supplying electricity to end consumers, and with the launch of a new market in the summer of 2019, we were the first to import electricity from Europe to Ukraine.

Already at the end of 2019, ERU signed an agreement on joint activities for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in Western Ukraine with the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG. The acquisition of an asset with a valid License for the exploration and production of natural gas was the beginning of our work in a new important and promising direction and a transition from the midstream to the upstream segment.

And we confidently continue to develop to achieve energy efficiency and energy independence for Ukraine.
