Kilowat-Market LLC is a Ukrainian EnergyTech company developing an online platform for the retail electricity market. Here, suppliers and consumers can quickly find one another, compare offers, and conclude agreements digitally.
Conceived in 2016, even before the launch of the new market model, the project has been operating as a full-fledged marketplace since September 2025, simplifying complex energy processes and making them transparent. Recently, the company joined the Energy Club business community.
In an interview with the Energy Club media department, Roman Sutchenko, founder of Kilowat-Market LLC, discussed the platform’s creation and its key solutions—from the supplier’s “digital office” to electronic document management. He outlined scaling plans for adjacent markets and the implementation of AI-based analytics, and explained why the company joined Energy Club and the role it sees for itself in the digital transformation of the energy sector.
— Kilowat-Market LLC is an innovative EnergyTech company that created Ukraine’s first full-scale digital ecosystem for the retail energy market. Our platform, Kilowat.market, is a marketplace that essentially transforms the complex process of purchasing electricity into a simple and transparent online experience, — noted Roman Sutchenko. — We operate at the intersection of energy and IT, providing automation for the entire chain: from searching for the optimal commercial offer to the legally binding conclusion of an agreement and the exchange of documents in electronic format.
— Mr. Sutchenko, which projects or solutions implemented by Kilowat-Market LLC recently do you consider the most successful?
— Our greatest recent achievement is the finalization and launch of the platform architecture, which allows a supplier to deploy their “digital office” and reach the customer with a ready-made offer in minutes. We successfully implemented a system of smart filters and price comparisons, enabling consumers to see the real market picture without hidden fees. We also consider the integration of electronic document management functionality a significant success, allowing parties to sign supply contracts in one click without leaving the office.
— What does the company plan to focus on in the coming years?
— Our goal is to become the primary digital window for energy consumers in Ukraine. In the short term, we are focusing on expanding the base of active participants. Over the next 1–3 years, we plan to:
— Why did you decide to join Energy Club? What was the decisive factor in this decision?
— Energy Club is the most influential intellectual hub in the industry. For us, as a progressive startup, it is important to be at the center of professional discussions. The deciding factor was that the Club unites not just market players, but visionaries who are shaping the future of energy. We see a space here for synergy between traditional energy and digital technologies.
— Have you had previous contacts or joint projects with Club members? If so, what was that experience like?
— The Kilowat-Market team are not newcomers, but specialists with many years of background. The idea for the marketplace emerged back in 2016, when market liberalization existed only on paper. Over the years, team members have interacted with many electricity market participants through operational work, working groups at central executive bodies, and other projects. This experience helped us understand the “pain points” of both suppliers and consumers, which formed the basis for our platform’s functionality.
— What practical benefits do you expect to gain from membership in Energy Club?
— Firstly, high-quality networking and the opportunity to receive direct feedback from top players to improve our service. Secondly, we aim to increase Kilowat-Market brand awareness within the professional community. We want the market to perceive us as a reliable technological partner that helps businesses grow.
— What problems or issues in the company’s work or the industry as a whole do you hope to discuss or resolve within the Club?
— We are concerned with the issue of maximum transparency and simplifying the supplier switching process. We are ready to join discussions on the digitalization of market relations, the development of standards for publishing commercial offers, and the stimulation of free competition. Our goal is to work together with the Club to ensure the Ukrainian energy market meets the best European practices.
— Exactly how does your company plan to participate in Energy Club’s activities: events, working groups, joint initiatives?
— We are considering all formats. We are interested in participating in working groups regarding regulatory changes and digitalization. We are also ready to act as experts at events dedicated to energy retail and to initiate joint analytical projects.
— Which cooperation formats are most useful for you: exchange of experience, searching for partners, a common position on regulatory issues, or analytics?
— The highest priority is a combination of searching for partners and analytics. We possess unique data on online consumer behavior that we are ready to share. Developing a common position on regulatory issues that hinder the digital transformation of the industry is also important.
— How do you see the role of business—and your company in particular—in increasing energy resilience under current conditions?
— Resilience today is about flexibility and optimization. We offer a tool that helps businesses survive: consumers save time and money by finding the best price in minutes, while suppliers reduce customer acquisition costs (CAC). On a national scale, the digitalization of the retail market makes it more resilient to shocks, as interaction mechanisms become rapid and decentralized.
— Which joint actions or initiatives of Energy Club could be most useful for the industry right now?
— An active dialogue regarding the implementation of data-driven approaches in state regulation. An initiative to create a “roadmap” for the digital transformation of the retail market would also be useful, where our platform could serve as a pilot site for testing new interaction models.
— What would you like to say or wish to your colleagues at Energy Club and potential partners?
— We wish our colleagues unwavering resilience. Energy is the foundation of national security, and today we are all holding this front. We wish for unity, the courage to innovate, and the belief that together we will build the most progressive energy market in Europe.
Taking this opportunity, I invite all suppliers who are members of Energy Club to test the capabilities of Kilowat.market. Registering and creating commercial offers today is your step toward new customers in the digital world. Let’s develop the market together!
The story of Kilowat-Market is not just about launching a new platform, but about changing the very logic of the retail energy market: from complex, closed processes to open, fast, and understandable interaction. If such solutions receive support from a wide range of suppliers, consumers, and the professional community—particularly within Energy Club—the Ukrainian electricity market has a chance to not just adapt to challenges, but to make a qualitative leap to the European level, featuring real competition, transparent rules, and a digital foundation for growth.
