Energy Club calls for accelerating the integration of the energy markets of Ukraine and the EU

Energy Club, the largest business community of energy companies in Ukraine, addressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, Andriy Gerus, regarding the need to accelerate the process of integrating Ukraine’s energy markets with European ones.

In its appeal, Energy Club expressed concern about the delay in Ukraine’s implementation of its obligations to transpose the Electricity Integration Package into national legislation.

We would like to remind you that two draft laws related to this issue have been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine:

• The Draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Laws of Ukraine on the Unification of electricity markets of Ukraine and the European Union” (reg. No. 12087);
• Alternative draft of the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Implementation of European Law on the Integration of Energy Markets, Improving Security of Supply and Competitiveness in the Energy Sector” (reg. No. 12087-1).

Energy Club emphasizes the importance of implementing a competitive model for the functioning of nominated electricity market operators and offers its expert assistance in the development of the aforementioned draft laws.

In particular, Energy Club requests that Energy Club Vice President Maksym Nemchynov be included in the working group for the development of the draft laws.
