International experience and Ukrainian prospects: Ukrhydroenergo at "Hydro 2024"

Specialists of the commercial division of Ukrhydroenergo participated in the international conference-exhibition “Hydro 2024”. The event brought together more than 1,030 participants representing 200 organizations from more than 70 countries around the world, becoming an important platform for exchanging experience and discussing current issues in the field of hydropower.

Particular attention was paid to climate and hydrology issues, in particular, strategies for adapting hydropower to new climate challenges and ensuring the safety and sustainability of hydraulic structures. Innovative approaches to water resources management were also actively discussed, which allow optimizing their use, reducing environmental impact and increasing the efficiency of hydropower facilities.

Particular attention was paid to the role of storage hydroelectric power plants (SHPs), which are key to balancing the energy system and ensuring the stability of electricity supply. Participants shared their experience in implementing the latest technologies to increase the efficiency of such facilities. Other important topics of discussion included modern methods of fish protection, innovations in tunnels and pressure aqueducts, the use of artificial intelligence and digital solutions for hydroelectric power plants and dams, as well as the prospects for the development of hydropower in Africa, Europe and Asia, taking into account local characteristics. Special emphasis was placed on the restoration of hydraulic structures destroyed by Russian attacks and the importance of these projects for Ukraine and global energy security.

As part of the event, representatives of Ukrhydroenergo visited the hydraulic laboratory of the Technical University of Graz, where they got acquainted with advanced scientific developments and innovations in the field of hydropower that can be applied in Ukraine.

Participation in the event once again confirmed the high professional level of Ukrainian specialists and their readiness to introduce modern technologies in the industry.
