Energy Club informs that the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has announced an invitation from the European Commission for Ukrainian companies and stakeholders to participate in public consultations regarding the future Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). This invitation is crucial for the Ukrainian energy sector, as the consultations specifically concern the rules for electricity.
The deadline for submitting proposals is very tight — until August 26, 2025.
The invitation came in response to a request from the Minister of Energy of Ukraine dated June 28, 2025, to postpone the application of CBAM to Ukraine’s electricity sector. A letter from the Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) states that Ukraine’s issues related to electricity imports require further consideration by the European Commission’s services, and a response will be provided shortly.
