Centrenergo Power Engineers: Strength in Unity

08.04.2026

One of Ukraine’s largest state-owned energy companies, PJSC Centrenergo, is a regular participant in all Energy Cup football tournaments.

Last year, the PJSC Centrenergo team participated in the VI Charity Football Tournament Energy Cup — Spring 2025, organized by Energy Club. This event, a tradition for Ukraine’s energy community, brought together 12 teams from leading industry companies for a noble cause: raising funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Centrenergo team demonstrated exceptional skill and cohesion. However, the main victory of the Energy Cup was the unwavering solidarity of power engineers in supporting Ukrainian defenders. All funds raised during the event were used to purchase critical equipment for the legendary K-2 unit.

This year, in early summer, Energy Club plans to hold the VII Charity Football Tournament Energy Cup 2026 — once again to aid the 20th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems “K-2” under the command of Hero of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Veres.

Promoting physical culture, sports, and a healthy lifestyle among employees, along with networking with fellow power engineers and active recreation, has a positive impact on the psychological climate within teams and overall productivity, as emphasized by the tournament participants.

“In sports, every competition is a celebration. It has everything: spectacle, emotion, and the drama of athletic struggle. But the charitable goal gives this sporting event exceptional significance,” says Anatoliy Trokhymenko, Head of the Administrative and Support Department at PJSC Centrenergo. In an interview with the Energy Club media department, he shared his impressions of the team’s participation in the Energy Cup, spoke about the team spirit of Centrenergo’s power engineers, the principles of targeted support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the company’s role in strengthening the home front.

— We support Energy Club’s charity competitions and traditionally join the Energy Cup because, for us, it’s more than just an event — it’s part of our collective responsibility, — Anatoliy Trokhymenko emphasized. — Today, our task is to hold the home front: to work, support the economy, and systematically help those protecting the country. One of our key principles is to act specifically and directly, ensuring every contribution has a clear result and reaches those truly in need. We aren’t used to speaking loudly about the volume of our support, but we maintain a steady pace and a focus on efficiency. We are responsible and consistent in our actions. The Energy Cup is another opportunity to unite for a common goal and bolster support for those who allow us to work and live.

— How do you evaluate the organization of the tournament and the Energy Club initiative?

— Without a doubt, it is at a very high level. You can feel that behind it lies not only quality preparation but also a powerful idea that unites power engineers around an important goal. It’s no longer just a competition; it’s a platform for interaction where team spirit, healthy competition, and charity converge. Such initiatives hold special value in today’s conditions, as they allow companies not only to support vital fundraising efforts but also to feel like part of a common cause.

— Who represents the company on the football field, and how is the team formed?

— The team is formed from employees of various departments who seek not so much to show off athletic prowess as to support the common noble and charitable goal of the tournament. On the football field, they demonstrate the same endurance and strength that keep them in the engine rooms even after shelling, ensuring the restoration of power in the most difficult conditions. Additionally, one of our TPPs has a gym where employees can decompress after a shift, maintain their physical fitness, and find some peace of mind. Our power-engineer footballers are an example of how professional skill, discipline, and team spirit combine on and off the field, making them a true bastion of stability for the country.

— What support does the enterprise currently provide to the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

— Today, nearly 150 of our mobilized power engineers are serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Every contribution from the company is targeted and specific: from tools to life-saving equipment. In 2025, our support grew exponentially, exceeding the total aid provided from 2022 to 2024. However, we don’t work for the “numbers.” Our principle is simple: help must reach where it is needed systematically and without pauses! We send everything to the front, from the simple to the vital, to support those defending the country and to reliably and consistently strengthen our defense capabilities. Our colleagues are volunteers who cover humanitarian needs at the front and in the rear. We also have a pool of employees who systematically look after the families of service members.

— What impressions or results from participating in Energy Cup — Spring 2025 were most valuable to you?

— The moments when sport, professionalism, and charity unite remain the most valuable to us. Energy Cup — Spring 2025 showed how talented and disciplined our power engineers are, not only in the engine rooms but also on the football pitch.

— Do you plan to participate in the Energy Cup 2026 tournament?

— We would be happy to participate in Energy Cup 2026, but the final decision will depend on the current situation. More and more often, our power engineers maintain their physical form by clearing rubble after yet another mass enemy attack. The tournament remains important to us, and if conditions allow, we will be ready to join again and show the strength and cohesion of our team.

While Ukrainian warriors hold the line at the front, power engineers keep the country in light and in motion. Every such tournament is not just a game, but further proof: the home front is working, uniting, and will not stop. Because victory is born not only on the battlefield; it is shaped by daily work, unity, and the responsibility of everyone.
