The IV Energy Cup Spring-2025 charity tournament was called a game of heart and strength by the team of JSC “Vinnytsiaoblenergo” – the champion of the competition.
“When on the field there is a struggle for victory not only in the game, but also for the whole country, each goal becomes a symbol of invincibility. And this is exactly how our heroes-energy workers from JSC “Vinnytsiaoblenergo” played,” emphasized the gold medalists of the tournament. “They hold power lines under fire, restore light after attacks, and… go out onto the football field to prove: the power of energy workers is not only in their hands, but also in their hearts! The best teams of energy enterprises fought for victory to support the legendary K-2 unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Each team made its contribution – and this is already a victory of humanity.”
The VI Energy Cup Spring-2025 charity football tournament was held in Kyiv on June 7. 12 teams from energy enterprises and companies of Ukraine took part in it: Vinnytsiaoblenergo JSC, Vector-VS, Chernihivoblenergo JSC, D.TRADING, the management of SE NNEGC Energoatom, Zaporizhzhia NPP, PJSC Centrenergo, South Ukrainian NPP (PAPP), PJSC Ukrhydroenergo, Rivne NPP, branch of the Emergency Technical Center of NNEGC Energoatom JSC and Khmelnytskyi NPP.
A fierce but friendly fight took place on the football field. The teams demonstrated excellent physical training, unity and fighting spirit.
According to the results of the competition, the team of Vinnytsiaoblenergo JSC won in a fair fight, demonstrating high technical skills and exceptional skill. Zaporizhzhia NPP became the silver medalist of the tournament, and the team of PJSC Centrenergo took third place.
The best striker was named by the judging panel to Maksym Veremchuk from the Centrenergo team, the best player of the tournament was Denys Leshchenko from Zaporizhzhia NPP, and among the fans who supported their teams, the prize was awarded to a girl named Ulyanka.
The competitions organized by Energy Club have long become a good tradition of active leisure, unity and charity.
“Energy Cup is not just a football tournament, but also a charitable event and a platform for communication and strengthening partnerships within the Ukrainian energy community,” emphasized Energy Club President Andriy Kostrytsia. — Despite the fact that it is not professional athletes who take to the field, but company employees — from managers to workers, united by a love of football and a sincere desire to help the army, the competitions are always technical and spectacular. It is in unity that the strength and uniqueness of our football tournaments lies.”
The Vinnytsiaoblenergo JSC team took part in the tournament for the third time. In 2023, it took fourth place, in 2024, it took second, and this year it became the champion. “We were going for it. It was difficult, but each of our guys gave it their all,” said the team’s coach Ivan Duchenko, Deputy Director for Electricity Distribution of the Vinnytsia City Electric Networks JSC Vinnytsiaoblenergo. – In the group stage, the Vinnytsiaoblenergo JSC team defeated Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo JSC. The match with the hydropower plant was especially dramatic – a 6:5 victory was a real test of willpower. In the semifinals, we met with PJSC “Centrenergo”. The main time was a 4:4 draw, and then – nerves, composure and… victorious penalties!
The final was with Zaporizhzhia NPP, the energy giant. But our guys showed class – a confident 5:1 and the Champions Cup!
A special pride is Oleksandr Tovmar, an electrician at Vinnytsia Central Electric Networks. He was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament! His saves were life-saving not only in the semifinals, but throughout the entire tournament.
The Winners’ Cup and the Cup for the best goalkeeper are awards not only for the game. This is gratitude to the power plant for their dedication to the cause, for their belief in Victory and for their sincere desire to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This victory is not only a sporting one. This is another proof: when we are united, when we act with our hearts, when we play for those who defend our land, we are invincible!
“When it comes to supporting the military, everything else fades into the background. We had the opportunity to communicate with colleagues from other regions, test ourselves on the field with new opponents, practice our game skills, identify weaknesses, so we definitely got pleasure from the game, and most importantly – we made our contribution to the fight against the enemy, – said the head of the trade union committee of JSC “Chernihivoblenergo” Ivan Tymoshenko. – Starting from 2022, the trade union committee of the Society has thrown all its strength into volunteering – purchasing ammunition and necessary equipment for the military, weaving camouflage nets, donating blood, etc. On July 29, 2022, Chernihivoblenergo held a charity football tournament for the first time between teams of structural and separate divisions of the company, during which a considerable amount was collected to help energy workers who are currently defending the freedom of Ukraine on the front lines. After that, all corporate events of our company are held primarily with a charitable purpose – collecting aid for the military. We are happy to participate in other charitable initiatives. Therefore, we are not The Energy Club charity tournaments were no exception. And although this year our colleagues did not make it to the top three winners of the tournament, this did not prevent them from returning home in a good mood and fighting spirit.
“Our player – striker Maksym Veremchuk – scored the most goals and received the “golden boot”, – the team of PJSC “Centrenergo”, the bronze medalist of the competition, proudly reports. – This game is not just a sport, it is a symbol of strength, unity and support for defenders. Together we are a light that does not go out and helps to move forward.”
Support for sports and a healthy lifestyle is one of the priority areas of the trade union of SE “NNEK “Energoatom”. This year, six teams of the company – Zaporizhzhia, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi and South Ukrainian nuclear power plants, as well as the team of the management and ATC “Energoatom” – became participants in the Energy Cup Spring-2025.
“It was exciting, dynamic, interesting,” shared Sergey Snitkov, the head of the primary trade union organization of the National Nuclear Power Generating Company “Energoatom”, with his impressions of the tournament. “According to the results of the draw, our three teams were placed in the same group, the South Ukrainian and Khmelnytskyi NPPs played a draw, so everything was decided for the further matches. The Zaporizhzhia NPP team reached the final and took second place, which is great, especially considering that the ZNPP workers are now scattered all over the country, but they united and showed a strong game. In the final, they lost to the Vinnytsia team, but sport is sport – the stronger wins! Denis Leshchenko, who played for the Zaporizhzhia NPP team, became the best player of the tournament. In general, my wife and I enjoyed the energetic, skillful game of our teams.”
The debutant of the competition, the Vector VS team, gained valuable experience and noted the high level of tournament organization.
“This was a special day for our company! For the first time, the Vector VS team took part in a football tournament among the teams of leading energy companies. The most important thing is that this event had a charitable purpose – raising funds for the needs of our defenders, the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are proud to be able to join such an important cause, – emphasized Igor Korotkevych, Commercial Director of Vector VS. – For our team, this was a real challenge and invaluable experience! We played against more experienced opponents. This became a powerful motivator for the entire team. Now we know what to work on, and we are already planning to intensify our training.
Energy Club held the tournament at a high level! The organization was good – from technical support to hospitality. The atmosphere was incredible – the energy was off the charts! Good mood, positive emotions and a sense of unity for the sake of a common goal made this day unforgettable for all participants. The main victory of the Energy Cup was the unwavering solidarity of energy workers in support of Ukrainian defenders. All funds raised during the event will be directed to the purchase of critically important equipment for the legendary K-2 unit of the 20th separate unmanned systems regiment, commanded by the Hero of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Veres. This assistance will strengthen the combat capabilities of our soldiers.
So the sixth Energy Cup Spring-2025 tournament once again demonstrated: Ukrainian energy workers are a reliable support in the joint struggle for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
