On December 17, 2024, the online event Energy Freedom by Energy Club took place, dedicated to the topic “Community Energy: Distributed Generation”. The discussion brought together energy industry professionals – representatives of government structures, central authorities, people’s deputies, Energy Club member companies and leading industry experts.
The event was organized by Energy Club in partnership with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. The discussion was moderated by Maksym Nemchynov, Vice President of Energy Club.
The aim of the event was to discuss key issues related to the implementation of distributed generation in Ukrainian communities:
- Benefits for communities: What benefits do territorial communities receive from the use of distributed generation?
- Equipment selection: Which distributed generation facilities are optimal for the needs of a particular community?
- Cogeneration: How can gas-fired cogeneration plants ensure stable energy supply?
- Project implementation: What steps are needed to launch a distributed generation project?
- Connection to networks: How to connect a facility to gas and electricity networks?
- Permitting documents: What documents are required for the construction and operation of distributed generation facilities?
Maksym Nemchynov emphasized the importance of distributed generation not only for overcoming the consequences of the war, but also for long-term development energy sector of Ukraine, creating new jobs and stimulating economic growth in the regions.
Key speakers and their reports:
- Nataliia Khotsyanivska, Director of the Department of Public Utilities of the Ministry of Community and Territories Development of Ukraine, spoke about the state policy in the field of energy decentralization and support for distributed generation projects at the community level.
- Mykola Markheva, Head of the Department of Automation and Optimization of Business Processes of JSC “Ukrainian Distribution Networks”, discussed in detail the technical requirements for connecting distributed generation facilities, as well as the need to modernize electrical networks for their effective integration.
- Evgenii Fedorko and Vladlen Nevzorov, representatives of LLC “FMT GROUP UA”, presented modern technological solutions in the field of cogeneration plants and their effectiveness in ensuring the energy independence of communities.
- Iliia Salikhov, representative Temperi Logistics LTD shared practical experience in implementing distributed generation projects and spoke about the logistical aspects of equipment supply.During the discussion, the participants emphasized the importance of distributed generation for:
- Increasing energy security and independence of communities.
- Reducing the load on centralized power grids.
- Improving the environmental situation through the use of more efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.
- Stimulating the economic development of communities.
The Energy Freedom by Energy Club event became an important platform for exchanging experiences and discussing topical issues of implementing distributed generation in Ukraine.
