Energy Club discussed legal aspects of diversifying gas supplies in Poland

Energy Club, the largest business community of energy companies in Ukraine, held a high-level meeting in Warsaw on the legal aspects of gas supply diversification in Poland. The event brought together leading experts, government and business representatives to discuss key issues related to temporary gas storage in Ukraine and its impact on Polish legislation.

The meeting participants focused on the following key topics:

  • Legal aspects of gas storage in Ukraine: Experts discussed the legal mechanisms governing the temporary storage of gas in Ukraine and its subsequent transit to Poland.
  • Tax issues: Changes in Polish tax legislation affecting gas imports and storage were considered.
  • Diversification of supplies: Participants identified alternative routes and sources of gas supplies that are most promising for Poland.
  • Gas re-import: The legal and economic implications of re-importing gas from Ukraine for Poland were analyzed.
  • The future of the gas market: Experts discussed how diversification of supplies affects Poland’s energy independence and sustainability.

  • Stanislaw Bzhenchkovsky, Chief Engineer of the Gas Market Development Department, GTS Operator of Poland (GAZ–SYSTEM)
  • Agneta Kutselim, Director of the Commercial Department of JSC “Ukrtransgaz”
  • Mykola Kolisnyk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine
  • Andriy Prokofiev, Head of the Department for Work with Customers of the GTS Operator of Ukraine

Following the results of the discussion, it was agreed that the Energy Club will summarize key theses of the speeches and will form an appeal to the relevant government structures. Interested business associations and gas traders will be invited to sign this appeal. Such a step will contribute to further improving the legislative framework and improving conditions for market participants, as well as strengthening the energy security and competitiveness of the region.
