On May 26, in Kyiv, within the framework of the International Specialized Exhibition Green EnerTech – 2026, the Energy Forum “Energy Decentralization 2026: Generation, Storage and Financing” organized by the Energy Club business community together with Kyiv Global Expo took place. One of the speakers at the event was Andrii Sovietnikov, Chief Project Engineer at LLC GC “ENTAY”, who presented a report on the economic and technical impact of modernizing enterprises’ power systems during the integration of autonomous power sources.
During his speech, the speaker emphasized that the active implementation of cogeneration units, solar power plants, and energy storage systems requires enterprises to comprehensively review their existing power supply infrastructure.
The company “ENTAY” operates as a full-cycle integrator of energy solutions — from obtaining technical conditions to commissioning the facility. The group’s structure includes a design division, its own production of electrical switchboard equipment, installation and construction crews, and an electrical laboratory.
According to Andrii Sovietnikov, the integration of autonomous power sources does not yield maximum efficiency without a preliminary analysis of the state of the enterprise’s internal networks.
The speaker drew attention to the fact that a significant part of Ukrainian enterprises operates obsolete power equipment, which significantly reduces the efficiency of using their own generation.
“Because of this, analyzing the already existing network of the enterprise becomes critical to identify points where the enterprise loses electricity,” noted the Chief Project Engineer at LLC GC “ENTAY”.
According to him, old equipment can lead to the loss of up to 30% of useful energy, while a modern element base allows increasing the operational efficiency of the power system up to 95%.
Among the main sources of losses, the expert named worn-out transformers, in which additional currents and power losses occur due to the aging of structures. An equally important problem remains old electric motors, which often operate after numerous repairs.
“Quite often at enterprises, these are old worn-out motors of the AIR series and others, on which 20–25% can be lost due to wear and a large number of repairs,” explained Andrii Sovietnikov.
During the report, the speaker presented a number of implemented projects of the company.
One of them was implemented for a service sector enterprise, where **”ENTAY”** specialists provided a full cycle of connecting a cogeneration unit — from design to commissioning. The system operates in both island and parallel modes with the grid, allowing the enterprise to optimize electricity costs depending on the market situation.
Another project concerned an industrial enterprise for which backup power supply for cooling systems during potential blackouts was critically important. Within the framework of the project, two generating units with a voltage of 10 kV were integrated into the existing 6 kV network of the enterprise. To align the network parameters, a transformer substation of GC “ENTAY”‘s own production was used.
Also, Andrii Sovietnikov spoke about the implementation of several projects in the agricultural sector. At one of the enterprises, a solar power plant with a capacity of 1.7 MW was built with the modernization of the existing transformer substation and the application of complete switchgear equipment manufactured by the company.
Another project involved the installation of solar generation with a capacity of 0.75 MW in ground-mounted and rooftop designs. Currently, final works are underway at this facility to connect energy storage systems, which will allow the enterprise to operate autonomously during power outages.
Concluding his speech, the Chief Project Engineer at LLC GC “ENTAY” Andrii Sovietnikov emphasized that the installation of cogeneration units, SPPs, or BESS by itself does not guarantee maximum economic effect. The decisive factor is the modernization of the internal infrastructure of the enterprise, which allows minimizing losses, increasing the reliability of power supply, and fully utilizing the potential of new energy solutions.
According to Andrii Sovietnikov, over the past two years alone, the company has implemented more than 30 alternative energy projects for Ukrainian enterprises, which indicates a sharp increase in demand for comprehensive energy modernization.
