About the Company

Raiffeisen Bank is a commercial bank in Ukraine. Since October 2005, Raiffeisen Bank has been a part of Raiffeisen Bank International AG, Austria. The bank offers a wide range of standard and innovative banking services to more than 2.5 million customers. Raif actively supports the energy sector by financing renewable energy projects, promotes energy efficiency of enterprises and small businesses, and participates in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

History

The bank was registered on March 27, 1992. Since the early 2000s, Raiffeisen Bank Aval has been actively supporting projects to improve the energy efficiency of enterprises and residential buildings. In 2005, the Raiffeisen Bank International group acquired a 93.5% stake in Bank Aval, and in 2006 it became a full-fledged subsidiary of the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International. In 2015, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) acquired a 30% stake in Raiffeisen Bank Aval, which enabled the bank to attract additional resources to finance renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. As of 2018, it was the fourth largest bank in the country and the largest bank with foreign capital, making it an important player in the Ukrainian financial market and a significant contributor to the stability of the Ukrainian economy. After the state aid to the country’s largest bank in late 2016 and early 2017, Raiffeisen Bank Aval was the largest bank with foreign capital that was not owned by the Ukrainian government. As of January 1, 2018, the bank’s net assets amounted to more than ₴72 billion, and by their size, Raiffeisen ranks third in the retail banking market in Ukraine. In June 2021, the bank officially changed its name from Raiffeisen Bank Aval to Raiffeisen Bank.

Services

Raiffeisen Bank in Ukraine actively supports the country’s energy sector through various initiatives and programs. The bank offers special loan programs to increase the level of energy independence of businesses and provide them with alternative energy sources. These programs include financing of renewable energy projects, such as construction of solar and wind power plants, as well as biogas plants. Raif has become a party to the Memorandum on Bank Lending for Projects to Restore Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure, along with other banks in the country. The bank cooperates with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) under the Energy Security Support Facility (ESSF) aimed at financing energy generation, energy storage, and energy efficiency projects. The cooperation involves the provision of guarantees to cover credit risk and technical assistance to sub-borrowers.
