CLIXAR is an international business founded in Odesa. The company specializes in the production of security seals and their delivery to all active enterprises in Ukraine and to over 80 countries worldwide, as the company’s products comply with international standards.
Among CLIXAR’s clients is even the Vatican Gendarmerie.
The history of CLIXAR began with GST Group — a Kazavchynskyy family company established in 1998. The second-generation founders include a family of 10 people who fully own and manage the company.
The Kazavchynskyys are active participants in the Family Business Network Ukraine (FBN Ukraine). In 2019, the family became the winner of the first national Family Business Awards Ukraine and was recognized as the best family company in Ukraine.
Significant experience in the market of sealing devices and security sealing means allows the CLIXAR brand to solve complex tasks faced by energy enterprises, gas companies, thermal power utilities, and water utilities.
Since 2003, the company began supplying its own products to the international market, and today its products are used in many countries around the world. Every year, the share of export shipments increases, proprietary security seals are developed, and their design is improved. The company’s indicator seals protect the interests of manufacturing, trade, transport, security, and many other enterprises — all those who care about the preservation of their material assets.
CLIXAR combines the best and most valuable insights gained through experience, research, and multifaceted analysis to create high-tech seals that cannot be opened unnoticed, helping to preserve over $45,000,000,000 of clients’ property annually. The company offers clients pull-tight seals, clip seals, security labels, rotary seals, and bolt seals. Modern technologies and high-precision equipment are used in their manufacture.
These are not just seals, but comprehensive solutions for controlling client property and preventing theft, providing the best protection against intrusion and unauthorized access.
Furthermore, CLIXAR provides consulting and training on the selection and maintenance of seals — IT systems for control and accounting.
And GST is now the family brand of the Kazavchynskyy family, the guardian of traditions, which, like a father, will be alongside the progressive CLIXAR.
– Our company has already united over 17,000 clients across Ukraine and more than 100 clients in international markets. This is the result of systematic work, the trust of partners, and stable quality, which we confirm daily in cooperation with businesses in various fields — from local companies to international projects, – emphasizes Dmytro Kazavchynskyy – CEO and co-owner of CLIXAR, member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future and the Regional Development Agency of the Odesa Region, co-founder and chairman of the Odesa Business Club, and founder of Young Business Club Odesa.
How to grow from a family company into a global player, protect businesses in 80 countries, and simultaneously build production under shelling?
In a candid interview with the Energy Club media department, Dmytro Kazavchynskyy spoke about the transformation of a family business into an international brand, building theft protection systems in critical infrastructure, and how Ukrainian engineering solutions compete on the global market today. Special attention is paid to the challenges of wartime, the development of control technologies, and the role of trust and reputation in business.
– Dmytro, the company has over 27 years of experience, but a curious transformation recently took place: the parent company GST became a family brand, while the progressive CLIXAR entered the market. Tell us about this transition. Why was there a need to create a new brand, and what philosophy stands behind it?
– The company GST, which stands for Global Security Technologies, belongs to our family; it is a family business. For over 27 years, GST has been involved in the development, production, and sale of security seals. All products manufactured under the “GST Security Seals” trademark correspond to high quality and the ISO 17712 standard. We supply products worldwide, but we are primarily focused on domestic consumers because it is important to us that every Ukrainian company can buy plastic numbered seals at the most favorable prices.
During the war, GST began building a plant designed for our global expansion into Europe. For about a year, we cooperated with the International Logistics Association, and that is how the CLIXAR brand was born. By the way, this plant has been operating for two years already.
– You mention that GST remains the “guardian of traditions” for the Kazavchynskyy family. What is it like to build a large-scale family business in Ukraine? What principles did you establish at the start, and which of them still work invariably today?
– On one hand, family business is very difficult because relationships can vary. But in our family, there is full mutual understanding, and all family members actively participate in the company’s work. We joined the Family Business Association a long time ago, and in 2019, GST was recognized by all criteria as the best family company in Ukraine. This was very gratifying and important for our family.
I founded the company together with my mother and sister, and now we are the owners of CLIXAR. My mother is gradually stepping back from management; I manage the company, and my sister heads the production department and handles operational management. We support each other at all stages of work.
Our parents — father and mother — were engineers, very professional and tech-savvy. I am a lawyer by training, but I inherited an engineering mindset from my parents. Therefore, I take an active part in all the company’s operational processes. Naturally, I handle general management, as well as providing psychological support to CLIXAR employees, because given the enormous number of challenges, people need comprehensive support. We have over 120 employees.
Regarding traditions — we have a family constitution according to which we work. It is based on family values. One of its provisions is the principle of internal authority. We publicly support the decisions of all family members, but once a week we gather for a family council to discuss them, as not everyone always agrees with each other. However, we have never had a fundamental conflict with categorical disagreement.
– Thank you for sharing the family story. Now, let’s move to CLIXAR products. A modern security seal has long been more than just a piece of plastic or lead. Tell us about your IT control and accounting systems. How does digitalization help make theft impossible?
– Indeed, a modern security seal is a technological solution tailored to the demands of the times. It has many levels of protection. Each seal records a lot of information, and we then have the opportunity to track its performance in registries. Based on this, we constantly improve our products by receiving information from partners. This is our proprietary development. When we entered the international level, Ukraine was not well understood by foreign partners. However, now the whole world has realized that Ukraine has progressive engineering solutions, even in today’s difficult realities.
Property left without control provokes theft. Our mission is “control under control.” We create comprehensive solutions for controlling not only objects but also the employees who provide this control. They help preserve client property, prevent theft, and are capable of reliably protecting the interests of people and companies worldwide. We understand that owners and their employees already carry a lot of responsibility, so we are ready to take on the control of unauthorized access to important objects.
We constantly change and improve our products, equipping them with different levels of protection every 1.5–2 years to remain relevant and in demand in the market, ensuring our clients feel as protected as possible. It is impossible to create a single product that would maintain reliability for many years in an unchanged form. Last year, we developed a product where even the polymer body is encrypted — it is a unique product that is impossible to counterfeit.
– You cite impressive data: not a single unnoticed seal tampering in the last 2 years. You also mention your own “reliability laboratory” where you study theft cases. How exactly does this laboratory work? Do you literally try to break your own products to make them perfect?
– Yes, we try to break our own products and all others that come to our attention. Furthermore, we actively communicate with our partners working in the market; they have many cases, and we receive high-quality information from them. We also cooperate with the Institute of Forensics — you could say we train each other to increase expertise.
Our seals are adapted to work in various climatic conditions and they must meet reliability and safety requirements under any circumstances.
Our clients include most regional power distribution companies (oblenergos), gas companies, water utilities, thermal power utilities, large logistics operators — Ukrposhta, Nova Poshta, Meest Express, agricultural companies like MHP, retail supermarket chains including ATB and Silpo, as well as gas station complexes such as WOG and OKKO, leading Ukrainian banks, and others. Our products are integrated into their control and security systems.
– CLIXAR actively cooperates with solar, wind, bio-, and hydro-energy enterprises, as well as with oblenergos. What main problems (fuel theft, interference with metering devices, logistical losses) do energy companies face most often? What solutions do you offer them?
– One of our most important areas of responsibility is protecting metering devices from mass attempts to alter meter readings. Protection systems for energy companies are very important because they face commercial losses. To avoid them, we offer security seals for metering devices. We cooperate with all energy companies and are currently the leaders in manufacturing security devices in Ukraine.
– Can you share a real case where your comprehensive approach — from audit to the implementation of seals and the IT system — helped a large industrial or energy enterprise stop million-dollar losses?
– One of the most common requests we receive from energy companies sounds like this: subscribers begin to show a sharp decrease in consumption without obvious reasons.
In one case, a large energy company recorded exactly such a situation: at certain metering points, consumption suddenly decreased several times, although real usage conditions remained unchanged.
During the audit, we found that the control system had vulnerabilities that allowed interference with metering devices without obvious traces.
We proposed a comprehensive solution:
Already in the first months, the company saw results:
According to internal estimates, this allowed for the stopping of losses amounting to several million hryvnias annually.
For us, the issue of reputation is one of the most important, as in the future, we see our family company as a leader in a flourishing European Ukraine. And it is very heartening that recently reputation has gained primary importance for domestic enterprises and companies.
– Your head office and production are located in Odesa. How has the full-scale war affected the logistics and operations of the company? How do you manage to not only maintain stability but also export products to over 80 countries in such conditions?
– It is very difficult. Firstly, Odesa is constantly under massive enemy attacks. In winter, there were long blackouts. Since we have many international contracts, we, of course, ensured the full energy autonomy of the enterprise. Therefore, we worked non-stop even during periods of power absence. But energy autonomy significantly affects the cost of production. However, a reputation as a reliable partner is more important to us, so our clients view this with understanding.
In winter, an unpleasant situation arose — the enterprise was working, but employees had no light at home for 5–7 days. Therefore, we supported our staff in every way possible, preserving their mental health and potential. We live in a difficult reality where psychological help is no less important than other types of support. We understand that we must go through these trials together to become stronger. After all, how we recover ourselves and rebuild the country after the war ends depends on this.
We hope that the power supply situation will improve in the spring and summer. But we already need to prepare for the next winter because the last one showed our weak spots. At the same time, we saw that we can live and continue to work under any conditions, as long as it doesn’t involve nuclear weapons or an alien expansion — luckily, we haven’t experienced that yet.
– Dmytro, since 2023, CLIXAR has been a resident of Energy Club. What opportunities and synergy do you see in this community? What requests can club members approach you with today?
– Participation in a professional energy community provides broad opportunities for expert dialogue, mutual support, exchange of experience, and practical cases that help solve a wide range of problems. We offer our expertise to protect the interests and activities of our partners and clients. This includes, in particular, comprehensive solutions for controlling client property and preventing theft, which include: the development and production of high-tech seals, consulting and training on the selection and maintenance of seals, and IT systems for seal control and accounting.
– How do you see the development of CLIXAR in the next 3–5 years? What new technologies or markets do you plan to conquer?
CLIXAR is an example of how Ukrainian business doesn’t just adapt to challenges but shapes global trends while remaining a reliable pillar for clients in dozens of countries worldwide. In a world where risks are rising and trust is becoming the key currency, the company’s solutions are setting a new standard for security.
This is a story not only about technology but about the responsibility of business – before partners, the country and the future, and about the resilience that turns into development.
