Energy Club has addressed the Minister of Education regarding human resources for community energy resilience

08.04.2025

Energy Club, a leading association of companies in Ukraine’s energy sector, has sent an official letter to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi. The letter expresses deep concern about the critical situation regarding the provision of qualified personnel to support the energy resilience of Ukrainian communities.

The appeal resulted from an online meeting held by Energy Club on March 20, 2025, where government representatives, industry experts, and educators discussed urgent challenges. Participants emphasized that due to decentralization and the consequences of armed aggression, communities are facing unprecedented pressure in the energy supply sector.

During the discussion, a critical need was identified for qualified specialists capable of ensuring stable and efficient operation of energy infrastructure at the local level. It was also noted that current educational programs do not always meet modern market needs and fail to provide sufficient practical training. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of engaging youth and women in the energy sector.

In view of this, Energy Club proposed a number of specific steps to the Ministry of Education and Science:

  • Initiate the development of a comprehensive state program for training and retraining energy specialists, taking into account community needs.
  • Review educational standards and programs, strengthening the practical component and alignment with modern technological challenges.
  • Promote engineering specialties among young people through information campaigns and career guidance.
  • Provide conditions for professional development and skill improvement for energy workers by implementing continuous learning mechanisms.
  • Create incentives to attract women to the energy sector, eliminating gender stereotypes and ensuring equal opportunities.

The appeal emphasizes that implementing these proposals will contribute to ensuring energy resilience of communities, infrastructure restoration, and sustainable development of Ukraine. Energy Club expressed readiness to join working groups to develop effective solutions.
