Lviv resident Yuriy Nalyvayko, Power Engineer Lead at SoftServe, learned about the Energy Club program “EnergoStart: Training for the Future” through social networks and became a participant on his own initiative, as he seeks to improve his qualifications in the energy industry, in particular in renewable energy sources and energy project management.

“Having over 20 years of experience in the power industry, I understand how important energy issues are for society, – says Yuriy. – The SoftServe company where I work implements projects aimed at using energy from renewable sources and reducing the negative impact on the environment.

The training is extremely useful for me, as it includes current data and the latest technologies in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. The program is designed taking into account European standards and practices, which makes it especially valuable for specialists in this field. The training contributes to the development of professional skills necessary for work in the energy sector and participation in projects to restore the energy sector of Ukraine. The organization is at a high level, the materials are clearly structured and easy to understand. All teachers are competent experienced specialists directly in the energy sector, they provided a lot of useful information and practical advice. The convenient online format allows you to effectively combine training with work, study materials at a convenient time and pace, which allows you to better absorb information.

I especially liked the opportunity to further practically apply the theoretical knowledge gained. In particular, we plan to take the following steps at SoftServe: optimizing energy consumption – using new methods and tools, you can reduce energy costs; implementing new technologies – knowledge will help integrate them into production processes; increasing work efficiency – thanks to the acquired skills, you can improve energy resource management and increase productivity; developing new projects that will meet modern requirements.

I would definitely recommend the Energy Club program “EnergoStart: Training for the Future” to other specialists (those who already work in the energy sector, and those who just want to join this relevant area of activity). It allows for a deeper understanding of the processes related to energy systems, renewable energy sources, and energy efficiency.

So, in my opinion, the advantages of this training are: the relevance of the topic, high quality of materials, convenient format, and practical orientation of the knowledge gained.

As for other areas of training that may be useful for local communities, I would highlight the following: energy efficiency and renewable energy sources – this will help communities reduce energy costs and reduce environmental impact; project management – these skills will help to more effectively implement local initiatives; digital technologies – knowledge of modern technologies and their application can significantly increase work efficiency in various areas.

Yuriy is one of 43 participants in the Energy Club’s “EnergoStart: Training for the Future” training program, which is aimed at training specialists in the field of energy and energy efficiency. It provides students with the opportunity to gain additional knowledge and practical skills, which will facilitate their further employment and active participation in the projects of the restoration of Ukraine.

A key feature of this program is that the training is carried out by specialists and employees of companies in the energy sector of the economy and energy efficiency experts.

Program participants have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from practicing professionals who directly work in the energy industry and energy efficiency, which will ensure that students acquire practical skills and understand the processes in these areas.

The three-month training includes lectures and practical classes twice a week, as well as independent work. Among the course students are heads and secretaries of village, town and city councils, specialists from economic development, housing and energy departments, investors interested in distributed generation projects, public activists and environmentalists.

Alina Ponomarenko, Chief Specialist of the Legal Department of the Blyznyukiv Village Council of the Lozov District of the Kharkiv Region:

“We are a frontline community, we are bringing victory closer in all directions without barriers, we dream of being independent and energy-efficient. Therefore, through the Association of Ukrainian Cities, we always conduct training ourselves and participate in webinars. I have more than one education and am a techie by heart, so when I found out about training under the program “EnergoStart” from Energy Club, I applied and was very happy to hear that I was selected.

The training is incredibly useful, professionalism is felt in everything, which means that the result will definitely be there, because there is a desire to move forward. Convenient division into modules – green energy, gas, energy efficiency, consumption, modernization. Teaching materials directly and to the point. It’s good that there is an opportunity to learn and develop.

I’m really looking forward to the final forum and job offers in the energy sector. I want to be able to help the community remotely and be useful where people need it. I look forward to meeting with specialists and the opportunity to put the acquired knowledge into practice.

I dream that a power plant will be built in the Kharkiv region, which will cover several districts, so that there will be opportunities for business development in a strong state with strong current legislation, so that business develops, we prosper and at the same time remain people – who we really are.

Svitlana Myschenko – specialist in the energy efficiency department of the Bila Tserkva City Council, city Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region:

“I have been in this position for a short time, so the training has become very relevant and useful. Competent teachers, many practical cases, everything is as convenient, effective and appropriate as possible.

The program is structured in such a way that the amount of information provided by teachers can be practically used for a specific community.

The process of decarbonization is ongoing in Ukraine, renewable energy is actively developing. Our community is implementing renewable energy projects, we are actively using solar panels.”

Among the course participants are not only young specialists, but also people with experience in the energy sector, and this indicates the timeliness and appropriateness of the training program “EnergoStart“. Technologies do not stand still, and new knowledge “needs everyone who works in this field.”

The material was prepared within the framework of the program “EnergyStart: Training for the Future” program, implemented with the support of the project ‘Promoting Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine’, implemented by GIZ Ukraine on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
