On August 28, 2026, Energy Club held the first closed meeting of its working group on the impact of CBAM on electricity trade between Ukraine and the European Union.
The meeting was a practical continuation of the public discussion held by Energy Club on August 11. The key outcome of the session was an agreement to prepare a consolidated position of market participants and joint proposals addressing the challenges of applying CBAM to Ukrainian electricity exports.
Participants defined the core principles of the working group’s operation. Companies will provide practical comments, proposals, and draft documents, which will be developed jointly. The resulting position will form the basis for further communication with Ukrainian government authorities, the Secretariat of the Energy Community, and EU institutions.
The meeting was moderated by Maksym Nemchynov, Vice President of Energy Club and former Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
The next stage will involve collecting and processing companies’ proposals, after which the working group will move on to drafting joint documents and a coordinated position on the impact of CBAM on electricity trade between Ukraine and the EU.
