Energy Club has begun developing a practical electricity trading course for representatives of its member companies. The Club plans to involve professionals from member companies as instructors and offer places to students from partner universities.
Electricity traders need a strong understanding of the market and the ability to make commercial decisions every day, work with forecasts, manage balancing responsibilities and assess risks. Companies need professionals who can apply these skills in practice.
The course is being developed in response to the needs of Energy Club member companies. The Club is gathering their input on the content and inviting industry professionals to share their experience. This format will give participants an opportunity to learn from the approaches used by other companies in the market.
The course will show how electricity trading is organised within companies and how commercial decisions, forecasting, balancing and risk management are connected. Energy Club will present the detailed programme after consultations with member companies are complete.
The Club also plans to offer places to students from partner universities. Energy Club will invite each university to nominate up to five students interested in the electricity market and a career in energy. They will have an opportunity to study alongside company representatives and learn from people who work in the market every day.
The course will be developed as part of Energy Club Academy, the Club’s educational initiative connecting the practical experience of companies with the training of future energy professionals.
Energy Club will announce the programme, format, schedule and participation details in due course.
