The electric vehicle market in Ukraine is in a state of turbulence. On one hand, information has emerged about the support for an amendment to the state budget that extends the exemption for EV imports from VAT and import duty until 2027. On the other hand, the head of the tax committee, Danylo Hetmantsev, categorically refutes this information, calling the amendment temporary and stating it will not pass the second reading.
The argument “against” is the potential loss of UAH 30 billion for the budget and the army. The argument “for” is the stimulation of decarbonization, the development of charging infrastructure, and energy independence.
