Guarantees of origin: what opportunities does the new instrument open up for the market and consumers

Guarantees of origin for electricity from renewable sources (GOs) are becoming an important tool for confirming the production and consumption of environmentally friendly energy. They open up new opportunities for market participants and consumers, ensuring transparency and trust in the energy sector.

During the meeting, we will discuss how the circulation and trade of GOs will take place in Ukraine, what value GOs can represent for suppliers and end consumers, how GOs will stimulate investments in the green sector and shape demand for environmentally friendly energy. In particular, we will consider the issue of starting the functioning of the Register of GOs in Ukraine and the necessary steps for the recognition of GOs in EU countries.

The expert discussion aims to facilitate dialogue between key market participants, highlight the potential benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of GOs, and find solutions to overcome existing barriers.
