Ukrainian transmission system operator NPC Ukrenergo received observer status in the continental association of European system network operators ENTSO-E
The Ukrainian operator will be able to participate in meetings of the ENTSO-E Regional Group "Continental Europe," and representatives of Ukrenergo will be able to join ENTSO-E working and expert groups dealing with issues of electricity market development, balancing, ancillary services, electronic data exchange, cyber security development in the electricity sector, renewable energy integration, etc.
The head of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky pointed out that getting the status of the observer member is an essential step to the final integration. According to him, the Ukrainian power grid is ready to become an element of protection from Russia, because Ukrainian generation can replace part of the corrupt and dangerous imports of gas from Russia to Europe.
"The potential possibility of exporting electricity is beneficial for both Europeans and Ukraine. It's a common business where we are stronger and stronger together in the confrontation with russia. And which can bring billions to the Ukrainian budget by taking this money from Russia. Honestly, efficiently and transparently," the head of Ukrenergo pointed out.
